BUILDING ON SERVICE

United Electric has been in the electrical supply business since 1965, when we opened with a handful of people in a small warehouse in greater Wilmington, Delaware.

Today, we have over 300 people serving a regional customer base out of locations in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Northern Virginia. As one of the largest stocking distributors in the area, we carry more than 22,000 line items from more than 250 top-name manufacturers.

After 24 years of steady growth, we broke ground in early 1988 for construction of a 75,000-square-foot service center to house our headquarters operations and the central supply source for our branches. A year later we moved into a modern, high-tech building designed specifically for improved customer service.

Our branches and regional distribution warehouses center on material handling efficiency. United has a computer-based locator system, shipping and receiving docks, indoor loading and unloading capabilities, and a drive-through system for easy loading of conduit and cable orders.

Our Industrial Automation Training Center has full audiovisual capabilities and demo equipment for hands-on product testing by the customer, as well as training seminars in the use of the products.

SIMS is a unique systems-contracting service in which we assume all or part of the warehousing and financial responsibility for your inventory until you need. it. The result can be a 30- to 50-percent savings in your acquisition and possession costs. You also save handling and related labor costs, and avoid the consequences of product obsolescence, damage and duplication. Our computerized inventory control system keeps track of your purchases, and assures a minimum 95-percent overall service factor.

Wall-to-wall products. Our self-selection counters, available at every United Electric location, offer the most extensive supply of electrical goods in the Mid-Atlantic region. Come in from the job site, purchase your supplies and be back at work in less than an hour. Or browse, examine equipment and work out ideas-all at your own pace. If you need technical assistance, it's only a few steps away. And if you can't find what you're looking for at one of our branch warehouses, we're sure to have it among the huge selection at our Wilmington service center.

Call ahead for quick service. Our "Quick Pick" will-call system, supplied from the warehouse and available at all United Electric branch locations, lets you call your order ahead so that it will be ready for pick-up when you arrive. We even offer drive-through load-up service at our Wilmington location for conduit and cable items. Our goal is to have your complete order ready-error-free, on time, all the time.
